CDF provides a strong, effective voice for all the children of America who cannot vote, lobby, or speak for themselves. We pay particular attention to the needs of poor and minority children and those with disabilities. CDF educates the nation about the needs of children and encourages preventive investment before they get sick or into trouble, drop out of school, or suffer family breakdown. CDF began in 1973 and is a private, nonprofit organization supported by foundation and corporate grants and individual donations. We have never taken government funds. |

| Established in 1989, CISNC assists North Carolina communities in replicating the CIS process of coordinated service delivery, supports the thirty local CIS organizations across the state, and advocates for children, youth, and their families. CISNC provides regional and on-site training and technical assistance, builds partnerships with state agencies and organizations to benefit young people, and serves as a resource and information center for local communities concerned about youth at risk of school failure. |

| The Public School Forum of NC is a not for profit policy think tank which is a partnership of business leaders, educational leaders, and governmental leaders in North Carolina. The Forum’s work is mainly in four areas: Proposing the creation of the Teaching Fellows Program and administering the Program since 1986; Setting the public policy framework for North Carolina’s entry into school accountability with the passage of the 1989 School Improvement and Accountability Act; proposing major changes to the way in which North Carolina funds its schools; and creating a one-of-a-kind Institute for Educational Policymakers, a capacity-building center that focuses on members of the General Assembly, the State Board of Education and reporters who cover their actions. |
